25 goals for Owen at Utd?
I try to limit my posts on football. It’s not really within the ‘usual’ discourse of this blog. However, please allow me this minor indulgence. A kind of bet with myself:
Michael Owen will score at least 25 goals next (2009/2010) season for Manchester United.
That’s my bet anyway. Would anyone like to make me a wager?
I was never a fan of Ronaldo. Despite the obvious ‘no end product’ criticism levelled at him in his earlier seasons at MUFC, he conversion rate was poor. Certainly he has scored some cracking free kicks – but think about how many he missed! Good riddance to the winker…
Anyway, I digress. With such supply into the penalty area (Gabriel Obertan, anyone?), the challenge and desire of getting Capello’s nod for 2010 and linking up with Berbatov, Rooney (who I consider to be the finest footballer this country has ever produced) etc I’m confident we’ll see Owen up there in the goal scoring tables next season.

i agree with the top comment about micheal owen being sucessful at man united this season….
He may not score the 25 goals that was said above, but he will get easily double figures, and will be in top 5 scorers in the prem…. and this is why i think what i do..
Does anyone know who had the highest chance-to-conversion of goals in the premiership last season?? MICHEAL OWEN.. and thats at a poor poor newcastle disaster side… does anyone know who scored more goals in the PREMIERSHIP last season, out of carlos tevez, didier drogba and micheal owen ??? MICHEAL OWEN…. and also does anyone know who is the only player in the ‘premiership at the moment’, who has played over 300 games and kept his ”at least 1 goal every 2 games” record ‘in all competitions’…. MICHEAL OWEN…
And having said all that, Manchester United IS the BEST club that micheal owen has ever played at in his career, which has got to help any player..
So anyone who is doubting micheal owen at united this season, really has no clue about ‘real football’ and spend too long listening to the press + newspapers (who always criticise owen, and united)
One more point, to those who are probably thinking now ” yes, but micheal owen is too injury prone” micheal owen had an injury over 3 years ago, where somebody jumped on his foot, and he broke his metatarsel (which can/would happen to anyone) which should have seen him not play in the last world cup… but he was so determined to play in it, that he came back early… and played in it, and then he injured his knee ligaments (which had him out of football for like a year) in that very game.. (because he shouldn’t have bin playing in it, he came back too soon)… so that is the so called ‘injury prone’ micheal owen.. something that could have happened to any player in the world, not to only injury prone players… Also in the last two years micheal owen has played 32 games one season, and 33 the next for newcastle united… and if you think that newcastle weren’t in champions league etc, and got knocked out of other cups early… he played nearly every game… 32/38 33/38… prem.. does that sound like an injury prone player?? NO… micheal owen will be a success at united this season FACT… whatever anyone else says… you heard it here first…. and at the end of the season, i will be right, and all the doubters will be wrong!!!
If anyone dis-agree’s with me on anything on this blog, please comment and ile get back to you and discuss…
I seriously don’t believe it. I pray Rooney is better for the world cup!
