A plea to the Working Tax Credits department of HM Revenue & Customs

By in Personal

I’ve only just got around to filling in a Working Tax Credit form to discover back payments are only usually made upto 3 months ago. I’m sure (and hope) someone there will understand my plight…

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to request a backdating of the attached claim…

Our little bundle of joy arrived late October 2009. Since then, on an almost daily basis, I have been vomited upon, slapped in the face (by baby usually, but wife occasionally), had my fingers bitten nearly to the bone and had my darkened saggy eyes poked into next week by podgy food covered hands. All this while enduring levels of sleep depravation that make Guantánamo Bay look like a Thompson’s holiday.

Suffice it to say, walking and talking has been problematic for me since October, let alone filling in something like this form which requires a modicum of concentration and care. I ask therefore you find it in your hearts to show me some leniency and allow a backdating of this claim to November 2009.

Sincerely yours,

A physically tired, mentally humbled yet emotionally fulfilled father (Ben Frain).

Well the miserable gits didn’t back date it after all…

We have been chasing our back dated claim for a period covering 3 months…just to be told today that they have no record of the form being received despite sending it by recorded delivery and confirmation by the post office that it has been received!!!

Dreadful aren’t they. I’m sure my numbers aren’t right either. Having tried to call on more occasions than I care to remember I have given up. It just gives a message that they are very busy and ends the call. Appalling.
