1. Hey Ben,

   Just bought the course, can’t wait to start watching.

   I bought all editions of the book. However, my favorite remains Enduring CSS, which is THE BEST way to scale CSS.

   I wish you’d write a post about CSS layers in the context of ECSS. I’d guess that you’d use layers for utility classes?

   ECSS should have become an industry standard. Thank you for coming up with it, I literally use it every day.

   • Hi Charles, thanks for the support. ECSS is funny because I also use it almost every day and still get incredible value from it, especially in projects with many developers so it’s lovely to hear that others do too.

     I tend to not make a lot of use of utility classes, and confess to not really using CSS layers much in anger. I think if I was starting a project now, and could be sure support wasn’t a concern (layers still require pretty recent browsers, which for projects with lots of users around the world can’t be relied on) then I would likely just use it to have a reset, then 3rd party layers, before then having the ‘standard’ ECSS stuff. But as ECSS mitigates much of the issues of specificity I haven’t really needed to do the layers thing yet.

     • I figured!

       I wrote an ERP and early, I made some poor design decisions where I didn’t use ECSS, and now I’m stuck with specificity hell. (Which is why I was thinking about layers.)

       I’ve decided to go through a massively time-consuming redesign, but this time it’s going to be 100% ECSS.

       ECSS requires being thoughtful and not impulsive, which is a nice side-effect – but it does go against my “let’s code first and think about the rest later” tendencies lol.
